Create Chaos Part 1

So we have been gone the last few days out of town to Orlando. Josh and I headed down with our friend Allan Branch (Less Everything) to attend the design conference Create Chaos. We took video throughout our entire trip and we have split it into 3 parts. Part one includes our 6 hour drive to Orlando, a Thai dinner, and all the way up to us pulling up to the conference. Enjoy and stick around for the remaining parts in the next few days.

Post Bloo

We just finished designing real-estate startup Post Bloo.  Post Bloo is a team brought together with one purpose, Helping You. It is their desire to make your transaction as smooth and stress-free as possible. They are a professional team who is dedicated to helping you every step of the way. The home buying process is one that should be enjoyed and they believe by letting them help you, you will certainly come to see this.

The name Postbloo was thought up to be a place where those could come who are interested in real estate, searching for real estate or just wanting to learn a thing or two about it. Here you can read posts left by the team members. They will add new posts daily about real estate in the area, where they think the market is heading, current events happening that could help or hurt our local market among other items. They give you the chance to leave comments and would love it even more if you want to leave a post.

So check out Post Bloo!

Child Support

For those of you who don’t know Erich Von Hinken, he is a 20yr old college student from Panama City, FL. You can see his check out his Myspace or his Youtube pages to find a little more about him. He does a video blog every week. Branch Records recently received a check for the purchase of one of Erich’s cd’s a.k.a Child Support. We love stuff like this, and we got a great laugh. Thank You!

Setup A Roadmap

Today I was looking through some old sketchbooks, and folders for a little lesson in personal growth mixed with a little nostalgia. While going through some of my earliest work(from around 10 years ago) I noticed that there wasn’t much direction or thought behind things. I just kinda made pretty pictures. As I progressed in design, I noticed that their were more and more sketches kept along with the finished piece. I also noticed that the pieces with sketches turned out a lot more successful. Even some of the crudest sketches at least set me up with some boundaries so I knew where I was going when I got to the computer. This is a piece that I finished about a year and a half ago, that turned out fairly well, and you can see from the original sketch, I had a pretty good idea where I was going. Moral of the story, spend some time with a pen and paper before you jump to the end result on the computer. In my experience, the small roadmap you make for yourself saves you a lot of wrong turns, and headache.

Find Things To Love

We here at Branch are interested in a wide variety of things. At any given time each person in the office is working on several unique projects, and each gets injected with a little piece of them. Cupcakes are often a topic of conversation at our office. These little baked goodies bring a warm cheer, and a colorful feeling of happiness to even the most stressful of days. We havn’t had any in a while so I think we are probably do for a batch. Doing some random reading on a Sunday night I came across The Cupcake Project which is an ode to how cupcakes can be interesting and can be shown in a creative manner. They accept illustrations or photographs of all different types of cupcakes, and they are basically looking to inspire some untapped creativity. Just thought I would share some cupcake love. If you would like to bake us some cupcakes, please leave a comment, we most likely will respond immediately.

Productivity

Sometimes the best ways to be productive are to stop what you are doing and re-evaluate.  The past two days I have spent looking at things I use, and determining which things I like and which things I do not.  I love Gmail wholeheartedly but it was taking a lot of time each day to check my many accounts in real time, even with them all imported to gmail.  Solution was to run everything through OSX’s mail.app, so far so good, I integrated everything I was using, with iCal, and address book.  I am no longer searching through 10 inboxes looking for contact info.  The switch from iChat to Adium was really useful.  I no longer have to log into a billion chat interfaces to have em all open at once.  Long story short, check out what you are doing and see which parts are frustrating and see if there are solutions out there for you.
